I found this beautiful rolltop desk at Goodwill for an unbeatable price and grabbed it right up. It was missing all of its drawers and was looking a little tired, but I had an idea in mind so I took it home, disassembled it, and breathed new life into it.
Before picture at Goodwill. The graining in the veneer is what caught my eye. All the drawers were missing, but for $20 it was well worth it.
I didn't realize it until I got it home, but the desk portion of it actually slides out for more writing surface.
I disassembled the whole desk and now it is waiting for new stain and some paint. I made a new base for it out of some oak plywood. This desk will look brand new!
I attached a set of new Queen Anne legs. Then I painted the desk with a coat of chalk paint, some wax, and a darker stain. I really could not be happier with the end result!
(Kitty approved 😉)
I even added a little bit of embellishment in the drawers using paper and modpodge.
