Stain or paint deck wood when installed

I replaced some rotting deck boards, and immediately painted them with a deck paint. Within 3 years they are rotting again. I now have heard that even when using treated wood, you must wait a year before putting stain or paint on the new boards. Is this true?

Treated wood needs to really dry out. At least 6 months to 1 year before painting, staining or sealing.

I have had a contractor tell me to let the wood dry for a year before doing anything to it at all.

Years ago my dad used to go to the Garage Station & ask for some old sump oil. Wood drinks the stuff & is well conditioned. Linseed oil is cleaner & works as good. Store bought stuff is expensive.

I have always waited a year before putting anything on new wood, having always been told that the wood needs that much time to thoroughly dry.
