What color should I paint my living room walls?

I have dark woodwork and dark brown furniture, a fireplace with a row of red brick around it. I can't decide between any shade of gray or a golden color.

U).nless you plan on painting the brick, use a color in the brick color scheme as your guide (so if it's a red brick, I would NOT use grey - one is a cool color and the other is a warm color). If you do have red brick, any warm color on the color wheel (any color between yellow and red, including all shades of red, yellow and orange) would work. If the bricks are in the gray tones, use cool colors (any colors in the green/blue/grey family

I would think a light color to lighten up the room, though I agree with Fiddledd224... gray brown and red are not really going to "go" well.

I'd go with the very lightest shade on the paint chip card. MY personal preference if I had dark brown wood/red brick would be gold, but I'm sure the gray would be beautiful, too.

Use a paint to get some light into the room (unless you have lots of natural light). I would go with light cream/buttery color.
