You don't necessarily have to kill the bug. Grab a plastic cup and cup the bug against the wall or floor where you see it. Gently slide an envelope, index card, or other firm piece of paper that covers the entire mouth of the cup underneath the opening until you've essentially created a lid for the cup. Lift the cup with the bug in it and take it doors. Release.
