What's the best way to plant cranberry bushes?

Deb
by Deb

I bought three cranberry bushes. Two female
and one male. I planted the two female on the ends
and the male in the
middle.
Still not bearing fruit. Am I placing the plants right?
And,
When should I expect
to see fruit
growth?

Hello Deb, Your soil might be lacking nutrients. Try diluting a tablespoon of Epson salt in a gallon of water. Pour it on the soil around your bushes. Then water them again. That will help the roots receive the nutrients from the Epson salt. Good luck.

Hello again Charles, The Epson salt will put nutrients back in any soil so the answer to your question is: Yes. But remember, you should do this only once or twice a year. You can also put used coffee grounds or egg shells in your garden for the same reason. All three methods put enzymes back in the soil. Charles, I love to garden. Please feel free to write to me if you have any more questions. I'm not saying I'm an expert but will help if I can. Good luck.

tHANK YOU FOR TAKING AN INTEREST IN MY QUESTION. i WILL TRY THE Epson Salt and add a little compost . That should help. The bushes are only 2 years in my garden. but, when I bought them they were a 2 yr old bush, which makes them 4 yrs old .I don't know when they bear fruit but ,I would think soon.

Hello Deb, Good to hear from you guys again. If your bushes were 2 years old when you got them, they may have gone into shock when you planted them. At any rate, I think between the Epson salt, the compost and a little patience, they should be fine. Now I am going to ask you a question. How do you tell male/female plants?
