Degloss with sandpaper and clean well. If you are planning on destressing you can choose to put vasaline along edges at this point and the paint won't stick to those areas or you can do it after painting by lightly sanding. Apply chalk paint, let dry, and apply second coat. After destressing is complete you will need to seal paint by either applying wax and than buffing or seal with polycrilic.

Chalk painting is sooo easy! Remove the hardware. Make sure there is no dust, grime or wax. I wiped my pieces down with vinegar water...let dry. I put two coats of chalk paint on...using a brush and also a roller. Let dry. I used a sanding block (sponge) to remove paint in random places to make it look old. I lightly sanded he entire piece to make sure it felt smooth. Lastly, I put a thin coat of paste wax, waited 15 minutes and

Buffed it off. The pieces are stunning! A tip I figured out with the second piece was to wet the sponge for the areas where I wanted it to look old and used. This made sanding go quickly! i put new hardware on. Good luck.
