Go Solar.... get a solar powered pump, works wonders.. be sure to get passive solar...
What is passive solar?
It's just the pump's ability to collect and store energy from the sun without the use of other mechanics. My electrical engineering husband is probably cringing over my simplified explanation. You can get solar powered pumps that have timers on them, so you only use them during the hours the birds are out. I think that a bird bath's solar pump continues to store the energy if you have the the pump shut off, so you always usually have a ready supply of battery power for when you need it.
