When reading various posts, I see references to chalk paint. What is chalk paint & how does it vary from regular paint?

Marie, check out this thread where another HomeTalk member asked about chalk paint just last week. Hope those answers are helpful to you. http://www.hometalk.com/diy/paint/q-what-is-chalk-paint-2995111

I have a question about chalk paint too. Does it scratch off easily or when you put the wax on does it seal it?

@Ellen Burton In all fairness, Ellen, I have not used commercially made chalk paint, only a homemade version and I didn't even go on to the waxing step because I was not happy with the results I got. From everything I have read, I believe once it is waxed, it does not scratch easily but personally, I would hesitate to use it on high traffic places with a lot of wear and tear like kitchen cabinets --although many people are doing just that. Time will tell if it holds up for the long haul. I would suggest you ask this question in a new post and I am sure you will get many answers from people who have used chalk paint a lot and actually lived with it.
