It really depends on the type of surface. I have used Clorox Clean up, and CLR on my interior painted walls but test a spot first. On the outside walls in my house I use Mold Armour, It is super and easy to use, no ladder required. I understand they have come out with a new spray bottle that can be used inside. I haven't tried it but I will if I get anymore inside.
