Rustolium spray paint in an oil rubbed bronze but not before you drill two holes about two inches apart from each other on the ends . After you paint it, slip jute rope through the holes and knot underneath for a whole new look !

rustolium spray paint does wonders. My banged up trays got the grey hammmered metal look. Nice drip trays for my larger potted plants

Hello Veronica; I think that your tray looks quite nice, myself. What look are you trying to achieve, and what do you wish to use your tray for, Please???

I'm with you -- I think the tray looks great! I have a collection of metal trays in all sizes, shapes and conditions. They are mounted on the brick wall of my small covered patio in the back of my house. (Best thing I have found for mounting on brick is a putty-type product by LocTite or 3M available at Walmart. I make a somewhat thick wad of the product and put it on the back of the tray, then press it into the brick and it spreads into the nooks and crannies. ) So if you want to send the tray to me, I will be delighted to add it to my collection -- it is beautiful!

I think it is lovely the way it is. I would put an mounting bracket on the back and hang it. I don't see where it needs to be refinished. Perhaps I don't see any flaws. Good luck.

So many people love it, you might want to sell it as is. If you want to do something different with it, get some Krylon Mirror like paint and spray just the middle to make a unique mirror for any room in your home. You can change the edge to another color if you hate the red. Share your finished project please. Would love to see it here!

If you are wanting to change it (not sell it or something), you could tape on letters that spell out a favorite word or saying, spray paint the whole tray a fun color, then remove the letters (sort of like reverse stenciling). The letters will retain the original silver and floral design from the tray as it is now, but you'll have a great new updated functional piece that you can use, display, or gift away!
