Cut back the older limbs before winter. Cover with sheet to stop frostbite. Uncover after last freeze, feed it flowering plant food and enjoy new blooms

Maybe it's not the plant at all. It might be the soil. Over time plants use up the nutrients in the soil. And since your plant is 10 yrs old, this may be the case. Try diluting 1 tablespoon of Epson salt in a gallon of water. Sprinkle it on at the base of the plant and then water real good. This will help the roots receive the enzymes in the salt. Hope this helps you. Good luck.

Trim back the dead wood, put in fertilizer stakes- they are great time release way to feed- and make sure it's getting adequate water.

Cut it back to remove dead sections. Water with a mixture of Miracle Grow.

I also save grapefruit and orange peels and make a juice out of them in a large jug. Grind the rinds and add water, let sit for a few days and pour on the ground around the plant. Make sure you cut well past the dead sections. It may look scant for the rest of the year but it will come back once it recovers.

Hydrangeas are usually very hardy so don't give up. I have created a whole fence line of about 70 feet out of one plant by taking a branch and laying it down in the dirt to let it sprout roots and then I separate the plant and new shoot plant it. They grow well in partial shade.

    Good luck!!
