You have to cut it out with a hoe at the root. When you mow your yard make sure the grass blows the opposite direction of the garden. I learned that the hard way on summer!
You can spray it with weed and grass killer, but you're still going to have to pull it out by the roots. Just be sure to get the roots, don't just break it off.
Smother it with newspaper, cardboard or plastic. Or just dig it out.
I suggest diggingvit out root and all I don't like grass killers and vegetables.
You can use newspaper to smother it and pull it out once its dead- good luck!
