I love lobelia but i am terrible at keeping it alive. got an answer?

I have put them into the shade, the deep shade, the sun, the part sun, used lots of water, medium drenching and very little. I can't keep them alive in a garden more than a couple of weeks. i have used fertilizer and none, no difference.

I sure hope someone answers this because I could have written it. I have done everything you mentioned and I can't keep them alive either. I am a good gardener, otherwise.

Hmmm maybe you are drowning them? Check the computer garden sites to see how much water they require. Some plants use very little.
I never have a problem growing lobelia in the summer - but I use pots with a drainage hole in the bottom and water with a hose about every third day until the water comes out the bottom. They seem to thrive in FULL SUN. We have hard winters so I don't keep them through to the next season.
