Need to update an old oak dining table
Very old table, it was my Moms with many leaves to it. My daughter will take but wants to update it.
How about paint the glass? Perfect backdrop for whatever you choose - freehand or stencil.
My idea would be to add foil to the underside so it would pick up any light going and look very interesting. Multi colour or one - randam or pattern or You could cover top with Mirror Tiles forming a Mosaic......

Make a wooden top for the table like pallet wood, cause it would be pretty hard to change it being black. Paint would chip, foil or window film wouldn't be visible from below the glass. You could also maybe put a thin metal top in, maybe check out the recycle yard and then get someone to cut it for you. If you decide to go with metal, you could also check out local HVAC companies as when they strip old ACs they have large panels of metal.
you could try glass etching a beautiful design on the glass but it is permanent so think about what design you can live with.
