Get rid of elm trees,,,really, you can't get rid of them if there are other elm trees in your area..just like ash boers, they are here to stay; and they're gonna do a lot of damage..
Apply a band of insecticide at least 1 foot wide all the way around your elm tree's trunk. Spray just below the point where the lowest branches meet the trunk. The chemicals kill the larvae when they crawl down the tree to pupate near ground level.

You might ask an aborist in your area how to prevent the spread to other trees.
