would this wear in high traffic areas? if I am putting down new floors anyway would you suggest the acid? stained cement floor? and how would this work on counter tops..considering ddoing cement over lays on my counters..not sure which procedure to further investigate???
Robin, this is the ultimate high traffic area material. Unless the floor is completely free of mastics from previous carpets/vinyl/tile installations, it may not work with the acids. If the concrete has never been sealed/coated/overlaid with glue, AND never washed with an acid cleaner, then acid staining can be a good choice, IF you have access to the tools needed for the install. All of these coatings can only be installed after the concrete has fully cured (about 30 days). If not,

the coating may pop off from the moisture escaping the slab. Cleaning the floor. REALLY cleaning the concrete is the first step. Renting a floor machine is the first step. Read up on how to do this via the internet and decide it this is the right project to take on.... Good Lick!
Yes Ginger, thats exactly what it is. Its an industrial grade material and not available to the general public. Prep is a big part of this three day installation...
its unlikely you can do the same, teresa, UNLESS you can prep/repair existing conc & use the same quality materials,,, that being said, it holds up well,,, try something from an apron/vest store & you'll not have much luck, tho
It can handle a bit of stretch but will eventually show a hairline crack before the underlying surface creates a void. No coating will hold concrete together. Unless you anticipate structural issues under your floor, its really a non-issue. Thanks for asking Joann!
BTW.... @ Letha.... THANKS!
