Anyone have advice on how to keep birds away from a humming feeder?

Leave them alond chances are they might be from the oriole family and love nectar too. You can purchase a feeder for them too!

  No, they are not Orioles. They are House Finches, woodpeckers and sparrows.

  Then Janet's link should help. I am lucky as the neighbor over the back fence has the perfect babbling fountain running 24 hours a day. I have 5 hummer feeders - 2 of which are off by themselves for the young and timid hummers and 3 outside my bedroom window for the rest and an oriole feeder. Across the yard is a bird bath and 6 seed feeders in both the front and back yards to make everyone happy. Everyone gets thirsty and try not to deny anyone access to hydration.

What an interesting feeder that must be! I thought of Orioles too, at first, but woodpeckers????? Unless the feeder is attracting ants and bugs that are drawing these other birds??? The hummers must feel violated!!!!!
