I need some advice on how to make a Memorial Garden space.

Hello Danene, First let me say I truly am sorry about your loss. I know I don't know you personally, but I have lost enough loved ones to know how much it hurts, and how big a hole their absence makes. Memorializing their memory is a nice way to honor their life. My memorial garden was for my son. It is hard to say this way or that way is how it should be done. Follow your heart and it will be perfect for you. I included a statue that was purchased for me be my best friend that looked like him as a child. He used to pick daffodils for me and friends as a kid so they're in there too. As he became a young teenager he was amazed that you can eat pansey's and he used to do that to the horror of little kids, so in go the pansey's. There are times of the year that the garden doesn't look like it makes much sense, but it does to me.

Plant two or three green bushes or even flowering ones in an arc. Then put a cement bench in front of the bushes. You can make a gravel pad for the bench if you like. Plant smaller flowers or get a couple of matching cement urns to flank the bench.

Sorry for your loss, there is nothing that can replace the loss of a loved one but having a place to go to remember them is a great idea. I found a few ideas below that I think would make a great spot.

Lovely idea.Why not make a paver stone? Get a mold or a tray and use pebbles or broken pottery or flat glass marbles to make a design with the initials. Then pour cement into the mold. Be careful not to disturb the design. When it is hardened (at least 24 hours) Use it in the memorial and surround with pea gravel or decomposed granite.

The Dollar General store and probably others such as Freds carry plastic fencing the is decorative and would work nice. They run around $2 each.

If I were doing this, for one of my Loved ones, I would first write down everything that comes to mind about that person. Be it silly, thoughtful, kind.

What they truly Loved and enjoyed doing.

Did they have any special things or flowers or plants that made them truly Happy.

I would then sketch out an ides that you Love or have. Even if you think that you can not do this, Believe me you can!!!

It is a very nice touch to place a stone or something that has the Loved ones name on it. You can make this yourself.

I do not know how large of a space that you are working with, and where you reside.

This area can be as large or as small as the space that you have.

You can purchase, or even have a small bench built.

Personally, if I were doing this I would collect stones and I would make a small pathway. I would have a bench at the end. I would have plenty of plants, flowers and small items that make me Happy to see and that have deep meaning for my Loved one.
