Once upon a time there was an old, stinky, very outdated, bookcase... and a sweet lady that wanted a Pantry for her newly remodeled kitchen,.. and a very nervous DIY Girl to take on the task.. Here is their story..

This guy was falling apart in many areas! BUT the dimensions happened to be PERFECT for the odd space we had to work with...
Yep. That forsaken piece would become this lovely fun yellow pantry,.. perfect for a microwave and all sorts of goods...
There you can see,.. tall and narrow area by the door. My client wanted an old piece that had character,.. something we could have some fun with..
Is that enough character? The size was perfect,.. the only thing is we HAD to have doors! ...my client really loved the look of old pie safes so, I had some work to do to move that direction...
After spending some time prepping the entire piece... adding molding to the bottom, reinforcing and filling damaged areas... it was time to begin making it pretty,...

So I laid a base coat of a warm yellow and began working out the doors! ...I have to say it come together a little easier than I thought it would.. I added shelves on the inside,.. trimmed out the door fronts and added tin,..
the entire thing was painted and white washed,.. new hardware made it complete!
It would prove to go perfectly in her space! Incredibly functional and sturdy,.. so next time you go looking for that perfect piece for your space,.. dont be afraid to look outside the box a tad,.. that piece of furniture may be staring right back at you! Just be willing to open your mind and do a little work!
