They started a nest in old tree stump under deck. exterminator came and they were gone for awhile, but they are back. Tried flooding them with garden hose, but hasn't gotten rid of them either.

I had them making a home in the railing of my deck! I sprayed into the small hole with WD40 and they buzzed around, went crazy as they didnt or couldnt go in. I filled the hole with glue so they couldnt come out and low and behold they made another hole inside to out and I havent seem them since. So for you I would keep spraying WD40 on them. Hope this helps.

You can build a carpenter bee house...(look on Pinterest for ideas), and they will go to the house instead of damaging your other wood. They are not harmful to people....only wood.

I hope these bees are far from your house because they can literally cause so much damage to your home...that beams will collapse...I think you get the picture.

Maybe you could offer them somewhere else to nest. There are carpenter bee houses that you can find online. Carpenter bees are important pollinators, and seem docile enough. I've never been stung by one.
