Spray your carpet with some fabric softener mixed with water 50/50 let dry then vacuum the softener helps to loosen static so your vacuum can do a better job Hope this helped

Brushes do wear down. You may need a brush replacement.
Check brushes to be sure they are cleared of hair, string, thread and other debris. They get clogged and it hinders the effects of the machine.
