I use Resolve Triple Oxi Advanced Carpet Stain Remover--works great on all kinds of stains for me.

I assume the shag is a synthetic fiber? If it is, I suggest hydrogen peroxide or oxyclean (a compound very similar to hydrogen peroxide). Add a tiny bit of blue Dawn dish soap. Work it through the stain, and let soak for a few minutes, then blot. Repeat until its gone, but peroxide turns berry stains fairly quickly. If it is a natural fiber, make sure to rinse and blot again, as it will slightly lighten your carpet if it is wool or something like that. Good luck! At least it wasn't peanut butter!

I really don't want to get rid of carpet. I'll try the hydrogen peroxide and dawn method. Thanks for all of responses.
