While The Mad House kitchen leans more heavily on function over form, I have added some decorative touches. Most of them are vintage-inspired pieces that I have put together myself.
My husband's grandmother's embroidered towels are framed and hung on our kitchen wall. http://www.madincrafts.com/2014/02/vintage-style-kitchen-decorations.html
I re-framed some of my grandmothers' handwritten recipes on top of vintage fabric. http://www.madincrafts.com/2014/02/vintage-style-kitchen-decorations.html
I left room on our gallery wall for future find and projects. http://www.madincrafts.com/2014/02/vintage-style-kitchen-decorations.html
My grandfather's vintage newspaper stand. I use it as a cookbook stand now. http://www.madincrafts.com/2014/02/vintage-style-kitchen-decorations.html

Great ideas! Using something with meaning is so comforting. I want to frame some recipe cards for my daughters and granddaughters, but will have to transfer them to fabric. Have you ever done that?

@Billie I haven't because we don't have a functioning printer. That would be a great way to display the handwriting without risking the recipe cards fading.
