This glued down indoor outdoor carpetting in the kitchen and eating area has been here for at least 35 years. Please give me some ideas how to get it up and out, it really has outlived it's purpose. And it is impossible to thoroughly clean. 😐!

ry and heat gun in the corner to see if that will loosen it up from the glue. If it works it will be labor intensive, but it should come up.

It turns out it is very difficult to remove glued down carpet.

It does not come up easily. In fact, it does its very best to remain firmly in place. First, use a utility knife to cut the carpet into strips and peel each strip of carpet up. This will effectively remove the top layer of carpet and padding, but will behind a residue.

It might be most effective to rent a machine (there are several types). Here's one:

If you want to try to do get the adhesive up by hand yourself, then something like Sentinel 747 Plus Adhesive Remover (available at Lowes/Home Depot), a scraper and a bunch of elbow grease: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Sentinel-Formula-747-Plus-128-oz-Adhesive-Remover-SPI747-1/202523866?keyword=sentinel+747&AID=11210757&PID=7900825&SID=86842X1539491Xa43d8339ea5631ed3c9c7922afd73db2&cm_mmc=CJ-_-7900825-_-11210757&cj=true

Lastly, hire a contractor to do it. You might find it to be the most efficient way to get the job done properly and economically.

Pull up an edge and see if the glue has disintegrated after that many years. You can use a trowel to scrape under the carpet to loosen the glue, then sand well. Good luck, I hope your kitchen isn't large.

Get as much of the carpet off as you can. Then use a glue adhesive remover and scrap away. It will be a chore but the end result will be great!

My bedroom has the real old thick pine walls and oak hardwood floors. Everyone tells me not to paint it, because it would decrease the valve of my home. I thought about carpet and everyone say , why would you cover the beautiful hardwood floor? I feel like I am in a wooden box. I have a very nice bedroom suite made by Lexington, You can"t hardly see it because it blends right in with the walls. I feel like I
