I don't know. I would look up deer, and ask the question, under their food likings.

Deer may not chew up phlox and swallow it, but they sure can take off the blooms and spit them on the ground. Supposedly deer don't like lilies, but they sure took the flowers off each and every plant of mine and spit them on the ground.

Deer even eat my ivy ground cover. Disgusted with them. They carry ticks which if not removed from your body cause serious health problems.

Deer are browsers (like goats!). They will taste anything, they LOVE lilies (lilium) but won't touch Daylilies (hemerocallis). They don't like prickly or fuzzy plants, but that doesn't mean they won't take a taste! Check with your county extension agent, they have the latest info on deer "resistant" plantings. Fortunately, great strides have been made in hybridization of my faves - day lilies. Repeat bloomers, wide range of colors (no blues!) and sizes are now available, nice foliage, blooms that last more than a day, and really pest-free. For blue flowers, my false indigo (Baptisia australis) is 15 years old and the deer don't seem to like it. Please know that I have apple trees throughout my property, deer LOVE fallen apples, so I have had my share of deer problems....
