I have loved and grown African Violets for 50 odd years, and they are so interesting and beautiful. At that time I lived in Chester, CT. and in that town there was an elderly lady whose hobby was the wonderful plants which she had hundreds of. It peeked my interest and I've never been without at least two ever since. They can be VERY FINICKY! You must have holes in the bottom as they are "bottom feeders". Once in a while you can get away with watering them from the top but don't get water on their leaves as they don't like it. They also love to be in a southwestish window but you can try other locations. You will know right awa y if they don't like where you put them. They are inexpensive and some of my nicest ones have come from a grocery store at 3/$10.
Thanks so much!
