Hard to say without a photo, but black "sooty" mold is often growing in the "honeydew" excreted by insects such as aphid, scales, and mealybugs. They secrete sticky sweet substances that allows the black mold to survive. Get rid of the insects, and then wash the leaves with soapy water to get rid of the mold.

I keep a 10% mixture of bleach/water (6 ounces bleach 122 ounces water) in a spritzer and use it to remove mold from anywhere. It is mild not instant--the best factor of this spray. It doesn't remove color from clothing but it removes blood. I use it to remove mold from anywhere—clothing, mold and bacteria in and outside the house. I spritz the counter tops at night and leave the dilute solution to dry n the countertop.
