this is how I do mine
The other option is to get a plastic funnel, secure to the top of the jug with waterproof tape or glue. Then cover with a screening material to keep mosquitoes out. Quirky.com used to sell little "petals" basically a mini funnel that screwed onto 2-3 liter soda bottles to do something similar albeit without the screen.
