SHABBY OR FINE FINISH? WHAT'S YOUR LOOK?

Porta Verde Studio
by Porta Verde Studio
Here is a black sideboard I painted with oil paint with a brush and sanded in between many coats. I applied a clear poly sealer on the last coat. I have always been more of a fine finish person. I do like the shabby/chippy look but its not something I do unless requested. On the pieces that it suits, I lightly distressed on the details to make them pop.

This is exactly what I'm looking for in black. It is absolutely gorgeous!!

What brand and "shade" of black did you use? How many coats? What type of brush?

What brand of poly sealer? Did you spray or brush it on? How many coats?

     LOVE this piece!!

Fine I guess, but both have their place and merit.

Very nice. I like either finish - fine like yours and distressed. You did a very good job.
