How do i get black marks off our wood floors.

We tore up the carpet in our older home and found hardwood underneath. But there are black marks on the floors where the carpet tacks were nailed into the floor. Not sure if it is mold or corrosion from the nails. Wondering how to get rid of these marks.

Sand Paper if you are going to sand the floors - You could just leave them there as a historical feature.

Have you cleaned the floors since taking the carpet up? If you plan on refinishing the floors, the sanding will take care of any surface blemishes. I actually like all the marks and dings, adds character.

  yes we've cleaned and sanded the floors. the marks bug me to much to leave them, a little ocd I am.

  Yes, I understand! If you plan on staining the floors, it will hide them at least a bit. Don't forget, you are looking at an expanse of bare floor. Once stained and sealed, then add your furniture and belongings back in, those marks will be so tiny, you most likely will not notice them. I guarantee your guests won't either. You could try spot bleaching?
