James, At the bottom of the page in the link below is a chart of types of shade grasses for what I consider northern areas (like Michgan) and Southern areas (like Alabama), but I would suggest reading the article to get as much info as possible. Kentucky Bluegrass is the most widely used turf grass in Michigan. Also, Michigan grasses also consist of fine-leafed fescues, perennial ryegrasses, rough bluegrass, turf type and tall fescues. Refer to the Outside Pride website for additional information. Like with all plants, grasses are also chosen on the growing zones.
