Bar Set in need of repainting..... Any advice?

Our friends recently pulled out of their camping site and gave their bar set to us....At one time they had repainted the metal which is now flaking off...I need to redo it but am lost on how I should proceed. The chairs have mesh fabric as does the bar surround. I have included a pic. Anyone tackled this kind of project?

Tape off the areas of fabric, lightly sand the metal, clean,Use Rustoleums 2X spray paint for metal, spraying two light coats allowing to dry in-between,completely dry and seal with a UV Clear spray paint

If you want to start from a raw surface, which would ensure the longest lasting finish, use wire brush and get all the loose flakes off. Rustoleum makes a great spray paint that will cover well on just about any surface.

i would tape newspaper onto the mesh areas if you do not wish to change or paint those areas. Then use a combination of wire brushes (they make them for your drill, so your not just using elbow grease) and sand paper to remove chipping areas. This would work best so you don't get air pockets under your new paint. Once sanded/brushed, make sure to rinse all dust off and dry completely before paint with new paint. (remove the paper and tape prior to rinsing and reapply for painting) Rust-oleum makes some good paints, and gives you a good variety to choose from. Hope to see your finished project when complete.

I would go with Dianacirce70's suggestion. The Rustoleum paints come in so many colors and textures, etc. that would be great for the bar set. We just painted a new screendoor that only came in white and we needed brown. Hubby lightly sanded and cleaned the aluminum and sprayed it. I taped newspaper over the windows and screens and it turned out great. Being you have peeling paint, you will want to remove as much of the paint as you can so that you end up with a smooth surface. The cushions and any other spots you don't want to paint can be covered and secured with painters tape. You can use newspaper or those cheep plastic painter plastic sheets cut down. Have fun and do it to make it your own, not just a hand me down like it was.

Quit drinking and get rid of it is the easiest way.

First brush off all the loose paint so you won't have this problem again after painting. Cover all areas that you don't want to paint and then get some rustoleum paint and have fun.
