Boy I saw a video by a farmer who took a large plastic water bottle from a water fountain, filled it 3/4 with water, and shoved it in their hole, and waited, and low and behold the darn varmit swam up into the bottle. Drain and cap, and relocate to the woods.

I never got rid of mine, I just keep him happy and he doesn't bother anyone or anything anymore. I have a spot under my front hostas that I put down, nuts, stale cereal, cookies, anything that keeps him happy. Between the birdseed on the ground and my treats he doesn't bother the gardens anymore. When I found a hole by my pepper plants I set out a mouse trap baited with peanut butter. When it snapped it scared him so bad that he hasn't made another exit in the garden and it has been almost two months. The trap is too small to trap him, just scare him.
