Cable ties or zip ties are something that every DIYer has in their bag of tricks. Here are some helpful ways to use them around the house.
Zip a tie around the handle of your sauce pan.
When it's time to remove the lid, you're fingers won't get burned.
Zip a tie to hang your shower curtain for a colorful addition to your bathroom.


Cut off the ends and move the cut end behind the curtain for a finished look.
Zip a tie through your keys to color code them and keep like keys together.
Now your house keys are separated from your work keys which are separated from your car keys.
Thread a few pieces of embroidery floss through the end of a zip tie and make a knot for an instant bookmark.
No more dog eared pages.
Zip a tie through the holes in the ends of your long handled mops and brooms.
Hang them on an "S" hook or command hook for a more organized garage.

    Regarding the first idea: Is the cable tie fire proof? How do you place it to avoid the flame? I think a pot holder would be easier.

    At work, used zip ties to fasten clip on the nurses' cell phones. They hate it when they can't clip their phones to their uniforms! (Phone clip had lost it's screw)
