you will have to smother it out with newspapers and cardboard or pull it out
A safe weed killer that is also inexpensive is plain vinegar. Apply it with a pump action spray bottle.
We have a Hometalk member who always recommends boiling water. It certainly is all natural.
Smother it with newspaper, cardboard or landscape fabric and cover with mulch.
if you don't use Roundup or something like it you'll probably have to dig it out by hand. use a screwdriver and get all the roots you can. it's almost impossible to get it all. if the bed borders a bermuda lawn you're doomed. the roots will just continually grow under whatever edging you have. 8^)
