I found this cute ant infested nightstand waiting on the garbage man. So of course I swooped it up and decided to make her beautiful again. Just some molds and chalk paint to fix her up.
I immediately cleaned her up and pulled off the back panel. It was funky and no help for it. I first gave her a good sanding and then I painted her with Annie Sloan cream chalk paint. I had my husband help me with the cutting of old fence boards for her new back and stained them with special walnut colored stain. All rebuilt and looking fresh.
After painting her I knew she needed something more. Maybe some detail? I pulled out my silicone molds and paper clay and went to town. I thought maybe I was going overboard with the appliques.
Once I started I had to put them all over both sides. I think they really add an elegant touch.
She sold shortly after she was made over I really thought about keeping her but realized I already have enough projects. She looks great!
Suggested materials:

    You mentioned silicone molds.

I have an old decorative frame that is missing some pieces. Would I be able to make a mold to make replacement parts or is that not an option?

Your right!! But this was first Annie Sloan piece so I added the cost of my paint and clay for the molds.

I love what you did to this nightstand. Very decorative, It now looks like an expensive Victorian antique. You are so talented. Would love to find something like this to paint. Thanks for sharing.
