Can you stain a Mercer tile fireplace a slight deeper brown?

This is an original and could use some stain to cover blemishes from its age - 1932.

tried to send it but it did not go through. Whole fireplace is covered with Mercer tile whose origin is in Doylestown, PA. For example - the Mercer Museum.
Moravian Tile is what it is called. It is located in Doylestown next to Mercer Museum.
