I want to replace the webbing on the seat area of my patio chair

I want to replace with either some sort of flexible slats - perhaps some type of plastic. Alternatively I could use wood slats. Any innovative ideas?

Hemp twine comes in many weights and the heavier ones would like nice woven side to side , going under, back to the other side, under and repeat going fromtop to bottom, or bottom to top. If not the right color use a spray paint on it when done, or a fabric paint available at craft stores.

I like this idea! I will explore it. I think a 1/2 to 5/8 inch diameter rope might be required. I will also look at alternative types of rope, especially the synthetics as they may provide the give needed to keep the chair from feeling to firm. I will be using this for the support of a cushion so looks are not that important. Thanks.

John have seen some wonderful chairs using wood slats for the seats and backs. Use a slightly shorter piece for each arm rest.

You could use old tights ( basket weave them in and out) Keep the top tidy and surplus underneath.

These patio chairs are pretty large; I am fairly certain tights would not stand up. Also, we don't have any. Thanks for your reply.

You could use wet suit fabric. It comes in colors and is resistant to the weather. You could use one large piece or strips and weave it. It is flexible and durable.
