  • Since it is a vacation home you want low maintenance and easy care. I would go with native ornamental grasses. Now if you have pets that travel with you, choose carefully. Some varieties send off stickers or burrs that can lodge in a dog or cats ear canal and cause infection and an expensive vet visit or two.

Check out your neighbors landscaping, what do they have that looks cool but low maintenance? And a trip to the local nursery for assistance might render options you may not have thought of too.

You're in Zone 9. See if you don't find this list of salt-tolerant plants for your zone helpful:

Hello Tony; If I were you, I would go to my local nursery, and I would ask what do they suggest that you use???

I say this, as the last trip that I made to Daytona, I picked a Beautiful flowering plant that was in partial dirt. This plant was thriving and had flowers on it.

I was going to take it home and plant. I was told by a Friend whom lives there that the plant is invasive, and it also can sting you at certain times of the year!!!

I hope that your yard turns out Beautifully!! Take Care and Enjoy the Beach!!
