Can you paint over wallpaper?

My bedroom has wallpaper on it in my trailer, I want to redo my room in blues, but I am a senior and can't do the scraping on these walls to get the paper off. Is there a simple way to paint them?

You can paint over them but the wallpaper has to be solidly attached to the wall, otherwise it will peel off. I would take the time to either scrape it or hire someone to do it.

Yes. In your case, I would dust the walls with a dust mop. If you can remove any trim including baseboards, do so, but if you can't , plan on painting the trim after the walls. Use a paint roller to apply a primer and a top coat. Or you could go straight to chalk paint. Unless the wallpaper is peeling, it should be able to take the paint. Be sure to ventilate the room and hallway until the paint is completely dry. Best wishes 😇

As long as the paper is firmly attached and isn't loose anywhere you can use a primer and then a regular paint on top. Enjoy your new colors

If you paint over the paper it WILL bubble and buckle. Can someone help you to remove the old paper and smooth out the walls for painting?

When I purchased my present home 41 yrs ago, the previous owners had painted over wallpaper in the powder rm. What a mess it was to get that paper off. They also had two layers of paper in the main hall that took off the top layer of sheetrock when I tried to strip it. I ended up putting up barnsiding on the advice of a paint store professional, and the barnsiding is up to this day.
