I want to faux paint my counters and redo my cabinets. I am leaning toward Gianni Granite. I would love to hear from those who have actually done their own DIY projects. I have been searching the boards and blogs. Would love any first hand experience stories.

I am redoing my kitchen currently and have also seen blogs about painting counters - I just was curious and had to try and since I am getting new tops...had nothing to loose. I am convinced you can paint any laminate top. I used hand sanding block and went over the top, added two coats of zinsser primer, two coats of Behr paint & primer and 3 coats of poly. Every coat dried super fast and is holding up great! If I had not all ready purchased a new under-counter sink for a solid surface top I would have just left my painted and called it a day!
