Coastal Decorating With DIY Painted Seaglass Bottles

We have bottles and jars that our beverages and foods come packaged in, and I was inspired to paint these rather than toss them into the recycling bin. The result is a coastal look that can be used year round.
I had a variety of old wine bottles, jelly jars and other assorted glass containers just waiting in storage for repurposing love! First I gathered up a handful and soaked them in hot sudsy water to remove any residue and labels.
This entire project took no more than 10 or 15 minutes after cleaning up the bottles and I used a light hand and mixed up several colors of paint while spraying. On this large bottle I gave it a blue ombre effect covering only part of the jar. Be sure to do this outside and to wear gloves when painting.
I used some of my favorite blue and green spray paints and a glitter blast paint. You'll find more about the products and process on my blog at Shabbyfufu.
Once I was finished painting all of my bottles I simply let them dry in the sun. Spray paint on glass dries almost immediately, and to finish I brought all of my bottles and jars inside and filled with fresh flowers.

Did you use clear bottles or the dark green and painted on the outside of containers?
I have a plastic crate that I would like to turn into storage and but a seat cushion on top for a stool . What do you suggest using for the lid?
I would like to know how to obtain and use the 'ombre' type paints. I collect bottle & jars & haven't done anything with them yet, except put blue wine bottles on the window sill. I would like to make gifts for my Family & Friends.
