How To Make A Farmhouse Bed

Our youngest daughter moved into her own apartment and asked her dad and I to make her a Farmhouse style bed. We searched for photos of different styles on Pinterest and found a couple she liked. Here's how we made ours:
My husband was truly happy to be using his new Dewalt 12" compounding miter saw for the project. The chop saw he replaced is probably 25 years old. He has built a lot of beautiful things with that saw and I'm sure he will build many more with his new one.
He used 3 pieces of wood sandwiched (glued and nailed) together for the legs on the foot board. Simple enough!
Once the 3 pieces were glued and nailed together, and the leg tapered; this is what the leg looked like.
Here, the leg is attached to the foot rail.
For the headboard, he started with the side frames//legs. He built a channel that the center planks will fit into.
Once the planks were all in the channel, each board was screwed to the frame.
Brackets were used to attach the side rails and footboard to the headboard. You can see more detailed instructions, plus all the cut dimensions on my blog. http://www.diydesignfanatic.com/2017/08/how-to-make-farmhhouse-bed.html
