Garage Floors.

One home improvement that makes a difference every single day. Garage's are the #1 point of entry for most homeowners. Having a pro install an epoxy floor will instantly brighten and clean up the entire space. I have yet had a single client tell me they wish they had not undertaken this home improvement. Mocha is our most popular color. It blends well with the earth tones comprising most homes in the metro, Like it? How about a thumbs up ?

The original garage. Dull, dingy and lifeless. It also allowed for a lot of dirt to come inside.

doesn't take a pro to install this epoxy product. plenty of kits available for intermediate to pro diyers. follow directions and you can do it.

Donna,, this was not one of those do-it yourself kits. It it was, it would not look this good when dried. The diy kits are water based and lose up to 70% of their thickness once the water has evaporated. They are also designed for one coat. This is a 2 coat, 100% solids content installation. Huge difference both in 'the look" as well as in extreme durability. We spend half our time grinding off kits that never delivered on their claims. Also, the tools to prep the floor properly are ...»
simply not available to the intermediate or pro diy'er... and as you know..... its ALL in the prep !

We have this exact flooring in the garage of our new home, but there seems to be some spills on it that have stained. What do you use to clean?

I generally love what the painter did with my house. They did a great job and saved what was becoming a nightmare before the prior painter was terminated. The one area that could have been improved is my garage floor. Next time I'll be giving you guys a call.

Love the way this looks, but with the shiny surface, I have to ask how slippery this is when rain gets on it, as it inevitably will with the garage door opening and closing...?

Cheryl, Its generally not a slippery surface. In each application we discuss this apsect with the homeowner and offer anti-slip materials such as the floor flakes and or Aluminum Oxide crystals. We lay the floor so thick that floor flakes actually sink into the coating "a hair". This breaks up the surface tension and makes it less slippery. In reality, the garage floor rarely gets wet and water that does find its way onto the surface will evaporate off it it.

My question is,do they make a epoxy coating for garage floors that has a anti skid in it?

the proper amount of 'anti-skid' material ( alum oxide, 'shark's grip', garnet ) is added by the installer - i have never seen it pre-mixed in 2 OR 3part epoxies

DONNA, pls refrain from ignorant criticisms - its not becoming to you,,, you have no idea what material gary used OR how his men prepp'd the existing conc,,, IF more diy'ers actually followed directions, that would be fine but we wouldn't get as many calls to repair floors that have gone to ****,,, its 1 thing to follow directions but quite another to know & realize the frame of reference of them,,, not sure how you define ' intermediate to pro diyers ' - that phrase seems to be ...»
oxymoronic,,, yes, materials/equipment are available however most won't look past their friendly n-hood apron/vest stores because its too difficult & they won't expend the effort, they don't know how to operate the grinding equipment, or lack the experience to properly install epoxies.

in short, if 1 buys a diy kit of anything, expect less than pro results.
