Hello Vicky; There are several plants which you can use.

Wandering Jew will spread fast and stays green year round, as does Ivy, and also Ferns.

On a personal note, I planted three small pieces of fern close to a dock that I own. That fern has now spread so much that I am trying to give some away!!!

I hope that this will help you!!!! Take Care!
