I had a flea infestation years ago. They were everywhere! I had to basically "bomb" my entire apartment with a flea insecticide, leave it overnight (with my cats and plants). And go back the next day. Drastic, but it worked.
Diatomatious Earth in carpets, on dog bed, on dog. sprinkle outside. Read about it

Once fleas get into your home it's tough. Either flea bomb yourself or professionally. Realize that bomb will not penetrate the eggs that have dropped off your pet or have been laid. It takes two weeks for them to hatch, so bomb again in two weeks or have your professional come back. Most will come back at no charge.
We got an infestation from our cats. We resorted to a pill from the vet and it was amazing to see how fast it worked. Then we were told to sprinkle flea killer around the house about 2 yards deep. And then be patient. Any fleas that hatch will bite the cats and die. It took an hour to rid the cats of fleas, and about a week to rid our house. We still sprayed under the couch cushions. Happily for me, but sad for my DH, they don't bite me for some reason, but they loved him! Have patience. It may take a couple weeks to get rid of all of them.
You're treating the dog but it sounds that you are not treating the environment. Once they come in on the dog they find a home in your house. You need to spray with an environmental spray you can get from your veterinarian. Vacuum daily and empty the bag or the container each time outside in the garbage.
My vet gave my two cats Bravecto. She said she uses it for her animals. It cleans out infestations. I also vacuumed every day, making sure to empty and throw bag away outside in trash can. Fleas gone in less than two weeks.
Try a product call Revolution for dogs...it is not cheap but works totally. Also repels ticks, heart worm, intestinal worms, ear mites and a lot of skin conditions..I had terrible flea infestation 5 years ago...friend sent me some Revolution. fleas were gone in less than a week and have not returned..my rescue dogs have never been so healthy!!!,,
I use Comfortis. It is a chewable I give my dog once a month. I have never seen a flea on her. It kills ticks too!
Our 4 lb yorkie mix gets nexgard chewable once a month, works great. Vet said no matter how expensive the topical treatment is,if they get wet it washes off. We go camping with her and no problems. It works so sticking with it!
Please be careful and use the 'right kind of' diatomaceous earth! There is one used for pool filters which is not animal friendly, and in fact toxic...so check the label! My cats are all strictly indoors but yes, the dog can bring in fleas wherever other animals hang out (cats, rabbits, raccoons), etc...so we give him the monthly chewable. Having all hard-scape floors helps too....(mostly tile) and washing the cats bedding in HOT water often. I hesitate to use any treatments on my cats so would take each one into a bathroom on my lap (on a white towel) and comb, comb, comb with a good flea comb dipped into a tall-ish plastic cup of warm water over and over with just a drop of dishwashing detergent (fleas can jump back out of plain water, but the soap makes them sink and drown). You'll see them even with the fur coming off your pet into the water. It's more difficult if the dog has tight or curly fur, but worth a try? The upside is that most of the animals enjoy this attention and then smell good after, as well as getting rid of the fleas (and itching). Years past I 'bombed' the house twice but would only do it if I still had carpeting.....it was such a hassle.
The vet recommended a product called Seresto, which is a collar that lasts for up to 8 months, should you wish to keep it on that long. We were being driven mad by fleas, which the cat was taking all over the house. We repeatedly bombed the house, used insecticide on the carpets, put encasements on the bedding, etc. Nothing solved the problem completely until the Seresto, which kills the fleas that are using your animal as a host, and then the problem was gone because the other treatments to the house now have a chance of working. And we got rid of all the rugs. A friend had a similar problem with her dog, and Seresto worked for them, too.
Seresto is a great flea collar, but you still have to rid the environment. Outside, the diatomaceous earth is great, make sure it is food grade, to be safe for pets. I found that sprinkling rugs and furniture and bedding with borax works like a charm indoors. This was recommended to me by a Bayer representative, the maker of Seresto.
I have a 80 pound Labrador and 2 cats. Everything I tried to get rid of the flea infestation wouldn't work, no matter how meticulous i was. We went to the vet and he prescribed Bravecto. Within 24 hours we had absolutely no fleas. That was 4 months ago and I haven't seen one since then.
I use the seresto flea collars for my dog and cat. It is a little pricey but it lasts for 8 months.
For us, with our cats never going outside, we still had fleas. We used a powder on the carpets and on the furniture with diatomaceous earth and a flee killer in it. Also, after you bather your dog, take a SMALL amount of Avon's Skin So Soft (has to be the original) on a wash cloth, and rub it all over her backwards, so that it gets down onto her skin. Fleas, ticks and mosquitoes will avoid her like the plague. You want to use a SMALL amount. My daughter did this with a spray bottle and a washcloth once a day at summer camp. NEVER got a bite! It works. They cannot stand the smell.
