Hire a pool contractor. See what if, anything, can be recycled from your current pool. Permits will need to be pulled and possibly a land survey depending upon the size of your property. If not possible, just figure out how many more shorter laps you will need to swim. Lap pools are awesome! Hope you can do it!

Once you decide to go with a company get a contractor and get a contract for the work. Some of these places start, get the deposit, and they don't come back for days.. Then they do some work and their gone again. You want a start date an a finish date, and do check the better business bureau, to know their rating. Good Luck!
If you cannot get the longer pool to swim laps, get a pool exerciser, one that has a settable speed wave (rapids) system from a leisurely swim speed to a more rapid rate. That way, you can swim lap paces in place without incurring the extra cost of lengthening the pool. Also, by putting a long lap pool on your property, have you considered how this could hinder a future sale should you need it? A friend has a smaller lap pool with the rapids system, and it works great!
