In the 1800's Sailor's would give seashell covered boxes to their sweethearts after being out to sea, you can make a modern version from a recycled candy box and display it in you home. Fill yours with fun surprises to give to someone you love.
mine is filled with vintage buttons, ribbon and craft supplies, it's eye candy to me!
Here's the video, showing you how to use tile adhesive, it looks like frosting and dries slowly so you can move the shells around until your happy with the look.
I purchased this one at my local dollar store. Heart shaped candy assortments can vary in price, because I didn't want the candy this was a great choice for my budget and my new years resolution to give up sugar.
you spread the tile adhesive on with a putty knife, it looks very confectionery like, and gives the project a very different look than if you work only with glue.
this is a detailed shot, I used a vintage earring for the middle of the sea urchin and lots of pretty shells.
here I'm pressing the shells into the adhesive. It hold the shells well but doesn't dry for several hours. It gives you time to lay out the design, experiment and change your mind.
This is me in the video, talking about being single on Valentines day. for more details and photo's about this project, links to purchase the supplies and a little dating advice, visit my blog in the link below. Happy Valentines day crafting!
