This rooster spoke to my creative side. When I saw him, I had to purchase him. I wanted to put him on a pedestal and let him shine.
Proud as a peacock to be all decked out in bling. Cock-A-Doodle Doo
My thrift store finds. The candelabra was purchased for parts to be used in a current chandelier project. I used the extra parts to mount this sassy rooster.
Candelabra parts.
Holes drilled for mounting acrylic flowers.
Acrylic flowers were attached with socket head cap screws and lock nuts.
1/2" diameter aluminum rod turned down on metal lathe to 3/8" diameter and threaded. Used to mount rooster to base.
The 1/2" rod was also machined to create a flat surface for mounting the rooster.
Special thanks to my husband Jeff for his metal working!
Flat rod was stained with acrylic color burnt umber. I've used this paint on metal, wood and plastic for countless projects and have never been disappointed with the results. It was purchased from Hobby Lobby.
Originally, this black rubber cap was enclosed with this gold topper and used as a base for the candelabra. I flipped the two on top of each other for the rooster base.
Rooster mounted and ready to strut his stuff.
