How To Decorate Your Home On A Budget By Thinking Outside Of The Box

This project is a perfect example of why I started my blog. When we bought our first home, I wanted to decorate it just like I had seen on TV and in the magazines. The problem was that we didn't have the budget to do it. So, I needed to get creative and figure out a way to do it without breaking the bank.
When I saw this old piano bench at a yard sale, I immediately saw it differently. I love benches because they can be used as tables, extra seating or at the ends of beds. The best thing about a piano bench is that is has storage too!
I brought the bench home and knew exactly how to make it fit the style of our home. I painted it {aff} "Park Bench" from Fusion Mineral Paint.
After a few coats of the paint, I wanted to rough up the edges a little bit. I used {aff} 120 grit sandpaper all over the bench to bring out the dark wood tone underneath the white paint.
Farmhouse style is what I was going for when I bought the piano bench. It didn't look like that when I bought it, but I made it exactly what I wanted for a few dollars and some elbow grease! You can do this with any style and so many different furniture pieces! Head over to my blog to see some other examples of saving tons of money while decorating your home in the style you love!
